The Edmonton Apartment Association was founded in 1994 by Ron Howard, David Kolskog, Frank Power and John Toma. We are an Edmonton organization that unites those involved in owning, managing and operating residential rental properties. Representing over 60,000 individual rental units in the city, we consist of managers and companies that service rental homes, income houses, walk-ups and high-rises. Sharing similar challenges, goals and concerns, our organization works to promote and enhance the industry. It is because of this we have been recognized by all levels of governments as a relevant source of insight and feedback on the issues facing today's residential rental industry.
Our Future
Edmonton Apartment Association members are the Rental Professionals, and our association's voice is strong. Backed up by over $50 million in property taxes, $60 million in utility costs and $100 million in related services, we demand to be heard. We work hard to bring our members together in support of major local and provincial issues such as assisting in re-writing the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA), advocating for equality on issues such as:
-
Tax rates and residential service fees
-
Educating and informing members on issues of safety, crime prevention, property maintenance/repairs, financing, rights, responsibilities and obligations
-
Participating in committees seeking to improve the overall industry
Our Membership
The Edmonton Apartment Association represents over 60,000 residential units in the City of Edmonton and surrounding areas. Ranging from one-person companies to some of the largest in the city, our organization demands a high level of professionalism, and we ensure these high standards are met by holding seminars and monthly luncheons to benefit the education of our members. We hope that by keeping in constant communication with our members we can help ensure that all multi-family properties are professionally managed, efficiently run, meet all health and safety regulations and provide an economically viable home for their residents. With a solid membership in place, we represent the interests of 75,000+ rental units in the City of Edmonton.
Our Governance
Our association is governed by a volunteer board of directors. These elected members are chosen at the annual general meeting of the society.
Our Principles
All of the decisions and actions of our association are driven by professionalism and integrity. We strive to support the needs and interests of our industry through representation, education and support services to our members.
