This two (2) day award winning program is designed to help owners, operators and managers of rental property, with the cooperation of police, keep illegal activity from rental properties.
Phase 1 consists of a 2 day workshop that teaches the concepts of creating a crime-free building, as well as presentations on Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED), drug and gang awareness, fire safety, and the Crime Free Lease Addendum.
Phase 2 is a complete inspection of the building by a certified Crime Free Multi-Housing (CFMH) official.
Phase 3 involves the property owner/manager organizing a Safety Social with the building tenants. A police officer will introduce the concept of the Crime Free Multi-Housing Program and explain the role that the residents must play in ensuring the success of the program.
When all three steps have been completed, Edmonton Police Service will issue the Phase 3 Certificate for the property and add the building to the list of police-approved, crime free accommodation.
